LAVC’s Academic Resource Center (ARC) is providing tutoring with dedicated online spaces for the Math Lab, Writing Center, and General Tutoring. Canvas and Confer Zoom are utilized to provide both synchronous and asynchronous support. Computer support for students is available from the Computer Commons through ConexEd. The Writing Center is available to familiarize students with resources and new technologies designed to improve reading and writing.

There are multiple ways to reach a librarian for support. Real-time, 24/7 assistance from a reference librarian is available via chat box. To email an LAVC librarian, use @email or submit your question through the email form.
To borrow an online textbook, the LAVC Library has found several sources of free online textbooks available for students during the Library closure.

Counseling department is available to provide a variety of services to help students on their academic journey. Counselors are available to assist in developing an educational plan, selecting a career and academic pathway or declaring a major.

The Career/Transfer Center, located in the Counseling Department, provides services to assist students in selecting a major or career goal along with preparing to transfer or completing an Associate Degree and/or a Certificate at LAVC. Career exploration is offered in conjunction with counseling to assist students in self-discovery and decision making. The Career/Transfer Center offers assessments that explores ones interests, skills, values, personality and learning styles.
The CalWORKs Program at LAVC is an educational, training, and job development program established for students who are parents and receive TANF (Temporary Aid to Needy Families). Their goal is to provide an educational environment encompassing a full range of supportive services to enhance the students' academic proficiency, vocational skills, and life-skills. The knowledge and experience gained, leads to a strong foundation in their chosen employment goal, paving the way to a sustaining career and achieving economic self-sufficiency.

The LAVC Family Resource Center (FRC), is an award winning unique model of a public/private partnership, and the first and only Family Resource Center on a community college campus in California. The FRC provides support to student parents in higher education by providing the following services: Student Parent Program, strengthening working families, Helping Hands, lactation room, parenting workshops, infant and toddler playgroups, internships, free children's clothing exchange, infant supplies and family events.

Special Populations
The Dream Resource Center (DRC) at LAVC privides support to undocumented students throughout their educational journey. At the DRC, undocumented students are provided with accurate information about how to access and experience higher education. They offer a variety of services and resources to promote the success of their current and prospective students.

The mission of EOPS at Los Angeles Valley College is to assist eligible students who have historically experienced economic and educational challenges. To increase access, retention and goal completion, EOPS provides the following "over and above" services: counseling, tutoring, textbook vouchers, workshops, priority registration, progress monitoring and other services.

Guardian Scholars/CAFYES is designed to provide support for current and former foster youth attending Valley College. The program joins together the efforts of all campus student support services to assist students in reaching their academic goals.

Puente is a nationally-recognized, transfer-readiness program, sponsored by the University of California, to help low-income, first-generation, Latinx, and other impacted students to be successful in higher education. If you are interested in transferring to a university to obtain a Bachelor's Degree, and you are looking to have an enjoyable, supportive, challenging and rewarding experience at LAVC, then please consider the Puente program. Puente is open to all students!

The SSD program provides support services, specialized instruction, and educational accommodations to students with disabilities so that they can participate as fully and benefit as equitably from the college experience as their non-disabled peers.

The TRiO Program is a support system designed for first generation, low income and/or disabled students. The support system consists of individual counseling, individual tutoring, academic workshops, cultural activities, transfer information, computer labs, and complimentary school supplies. All of these services are provided free of charge and exclusively to TRiO students.

The Umoja Black Scholars Program at LAVC is a mentorship-based learning community created to foster greater culturally relevant engagement, sense of belonging, and academic success for students of color. While this program is strategically engineered to increase the retention and matriculation of African American students at LAVC, Umoja Black Scholars and the Black Scholars Network are inclusive to any students interested in cross-cultural engagement centered on the Black experience and perspectives of students navigating America and LAVC.

The Veterans Resource Center (VRC) offers individual assistance to veteran students and students who are dependants of veterans who are looking to attend LAVC and initiate their educational benefits. Other services provided by the VRC include: help with class enrollment, referrals to Veterans support services outside of LAVC, psychological counseling, tutoring and a mentoring program.
